Episode 56 – Dr. Lam Returns

This episode (download here), Dr. Lam (@runninglam) of RunningLam.com graces our virtual studio for a record setting third time. As usual, Lam brings with a whole lot of medical knowledge and advice – especially as it relates to running.  This episode’s discussion revolves around children and running. Lam talks about his observations on this topic as a practicing MD in New York City. He offers up advice to parents who have children that are active and interested in sports.

Also, this recording was done as usual on Sunday night that also happens to be the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States. Therefore, we spent sometime during show reflecting and sharing our memories from that day especially since Lam was actually in New York City. He shared his very awesome story as part of this discussion.

Our thoughts are still with those who fell that day and as always continue to be with those who are still in harms way trying to protect us from anything like that ever happening again.

Episode 49 – One Year in Review

Geeks in Running Shoes - New ArtworkThis episode (download here), we take you down memory lane through a year of Geeks in Running Shoes. It has been a very exciting year of producing GiRS episodes. You have heard us go through the technical difficulties of producing a weekly podcast. We’ve learned a great deal about podcasting and we are really glad that you have stuck with us – because we know that its been very rocky at times.

Most importantly though, you have heard us progress as runners over the past 49 episodes. As you know we literally started as non-runners and just like many of you, we have made our way though quite a few hurdles – fighting injuries, figuring out training, balancing life and the running, running in the cold…the list goes on. Luckily – with a little perseverance and A LOT of help from you, we were able to experience the triumph of crossing the finish lines at a few races over the past year. Besides that, we did learn a few random things along the way that did not necessarily help our running but kept us entertained nonetheless – Half Marathon Special. We hope that as we enter our second year of the show that you will continue supporting and encouraging us as go on this journey to becoming actual runners.

We hope you enjoy this short episode and that you will join us next Sunday, July 17th at 8pm CST as we celebrate our 50th episode live on our ustream channel.

Until then, leave feedback on iTunes,  email questions and comments to feedback [at] GeeksInRunningShoes [dot] com or just ‘like us’ on facebook! Also follow us on Twitter, Jason (@guttocutwl) and Ray (@adeyemiking).

Peace!

Episode 48 – Mojo St. Loco Clip Show

In this short episode (download here), we play clips from our time at the Mojo St. Loco event in St. Louis this past weekend. We are not set up to do mobile recording so we apologize in advance for the audio quality.

Hope these short clips give you an idea of just how truly awesome social runs are – especially Mojo Loco series events. The Mojo St. Loco event was truly a blast- we recommend that you make it a point to participate any kind of social run (if not a mojo loco series) at least once. You’ll be glad you did.

Thank you to all of you that came out to St. Louis and helped make this event fun!
